The MDI-PTMEG is a 3 component system. This system has some clear performance advantages over some of the more traditional high performance polyurethane elastomers. The polyurethane elastomer exhibit excellent physical properties, including good tensile strengths, high resilience and excellent wear characteristics as well as outstanding hydrolytic stability. There are also clear advantages in terms of processing, including low viscosity at processing temperatures and lower chemical hazards when handling the compounds. The system is suitable for food applications when cured with 1,4-butandiol.
MDI based products have lower isocyanate odour than similar TDI types and have superior hydrolysis resistance and often have higher resilience.
The MDI-PTMEG is available from Shore 60A up to 95A.
Difference MDI polyester HP and MDI-PTMEG-series.
POLYESTER BASED: The MDI polyester HP is recommended for applications where parts undergo dynamic stress, i.e they incur lower heat build-up. High resilience, low temperature peformance and resistance to water (hydrolysis). The De MDI polyester HP also is suitable for food applications
POLYETHER BASED: The MDI-PTMEG is recommended for applications where parts need to have superior cut, tear, abrasion, oil and solvent resistance
