The chemical base of ANTIGEL is a mixture of modified phenol derivative and methyl ethyl ketoxime (MEKO) in a solvent with a wetting promoting compound.
The multifunctionality of this additive is based on the interaction between the different components in the mixture. The oxygen-binding properties of the antioxidant ensure viscosity stability, and thickened batches can be worked up by adding a higher dosage of the ANTIGEL (between 4,0-6,0%).
ANTIGEL is a highly effective dispersing agent suitable for both organic and inorganic pigments (such as phthalocyanines). By a controlled flocculation mechanism it prevents the floating and flooding of pigments, this same mechanism prevents also the uncontrolled re-agglomeration of dispersed pigments. The good wetting properties of the ANTIGEL effectively reduce the dispersing time it ensures a stable and evenly distribution of the pigments. When used as a dispersing agent dosage should be between 1,0 – 2,5%.
ANTIGEL can be used to replace many additives all at once in a paint formulation. It has similar functionalities as the ANTIGEL 6217 and ANTIGEL KF-D but they are formulated differently. ANTIGEL is suitable to be used for water- and solvent-based coating systems especially based on alkyd or acryl.
APPLICATIONS:
ANTIGEL can be used in most water and solvent-based coating systems. Such as Alkyds, Alkyd/melamine, Alkyd/polyester, Alkyd/Acrylic, Acrylates, Polyesters, PU, Epoxy, and acid curing system. It is suitable for different application fields, think of Adhesives, Can/Coil Coating, Wood coating, Decorative-, Marine -, Wall -, Architectural- and Corrosion inhibitive paints.
Depending on the application, up to 15% of the ANTIGEL KF-D on solid content can be used. The difference in dosage determines the multifunctionality of the ANTIGEL KF-D. At 0.5-1.5% for anti-skinning and 2.5 - 15% as a dispersing additive.
