Polylan® is a series of thermoplastic polyurethane products. The advantage of a thermoplastic polyurethane over a regular polyurethane is the ability to recycle the material, resulting in less burden on the environment and reusable raw materials.
Polylan® is available in a wide range of different TPU products. This includes materials for extrusion and injection molding. Various shore hardnesses from A 55 to D 65. As well as Polylan® based on polyester and polyether. In addition, Polylan® can contain 5 different additives that are perfect for a wide range of applications. These include colors, flame retardant materials, UV stable materials and additives to make the Polylan® appear matte or transparent.
The information mentioned above is easily detectable in the product code of the various Polylan® items. The first number indicates whether the Polylan® is extrusion quality (1) or injection quality (2). The second two numbers indicate the shore hardness (e.g. 85). The next two numbers indicate the raw material basis of the Polylan®. 20 indicates a plain polyester, 25 indicates a high quality polyester and 60 indicates a polyether. A possible letter at the end indicates which additives have been added to the TPU.
This opens the door for Polylan® to many different applications, such as electronics, footwear, cables and the automotive industry, where strength, high performance and a long service life are in demand.
