The NABALOX® series are Aluminum Oxides that come in a wide variety of different specifications in order to find applications in the refractory and ceramics industry. Important differences between the different NABALOX® products are chemical purity, grain size distribution, crystallite size and crystal structure. In this regard does the calcination process determine the different Al2O3 content, structure, size and morphology of the primary crystals. The product properties are optimized by grinding, air separation or granulation.
NABALOX® Aluminum Oxides provide a number of advantages like optimized packing density, low sintering temperature, wide sintering range, high sintered densities, flexible processing and optimized flow properties.
Careful laboratory tests, independent from the production of the NABALOX® products self, ensure consistent product quality to meet the required, individual customer spefications. This high amount of quality control ensures not only consistency but advantages over similar products.
Different calcination processes as well as the different post hoc processes result in a range of 38 different Nabalox products. This wide range of products therefore result in high customer personalization, different areas of applications (like ceramics and refractory products, catalysts, polishing and grinding media, automotive accessories etc.) and very good specialisations.
In case of the reactive, bimodal aluminas of the NABALOX® series aluminas with a high friction (98%) are milled down to the primary crystal (2µm) and to even smaller crystals (0,5µm). Therefore, bimodal aluminas have two peeks in their grain size distribution. These alumina grain sizes come in precise, balanced proportions and are a homogeneous mixture. Leading to reduced water demands combined with an excellent flow ability. Especially engineering ceramics profit from optimized properties in the end product like: high mechanical strength, excellent dielectric properties, high temperature stability and chemical resistance.
Examples for the reactive, bimodal aluminas are:
No 615-30: primary crystal size of 0,5 and 2 µm
No 625-30: same as previous but a low Na2O version
More Versions of the bimodal alumina can be found in the document, available on this site.
